About Refurbishment of Lounge Sway, New Forest, Hampshire

Traditional new forest home whose lounge was totally dominated by a large brick inglenook fireplace which we clad and plastered to visually absorb it within the room. A bespoke enamel heat shield protects the wall from the wood burning stove.

The property stands in the most glorious new forest setting but the lounge had no direct view due to the style of a window and door which we replaced with folding sliding doors leading into the conservatory.

Our brief was to incorporate a cherished Persian rug and to work with existing antique furniture. Bespoke classically shaped sofas in a discreet woven herringbone pattern and a large storage ottoman were made. Pinch pleat curtains in a Sanderson fabric on wooden metallic painted curtain poles pulled the scheme together, with Luxaflex remote controlled pleated blinds for added night time coziness and solar control.
